Recently I was approached by a salesman, early fifties, I think, and he wanted to sell me a pen. According to him it was for some donation for a certain charity which I'm not even so sure of. It cost me $2. Reasonable, considering that I donate around the same during ny fund-raising events(if I'm approached).
However, he was quite pushy. I hate that. He approached me without even questioning if I WANT to buy a pen in the first place. Look, if you're selling a pen, you're selling a pen. No need to ramble on about some charity that I do not even know of and leave me clueless as to what went on for the past 5 minutes you talked to me. He went on and on about the charity, and seriously, I did not catch a single thing he said.
So I gave him the cash. So that he would go away. Yes, so that he could go away. What else would a guy blasting his ipod waiting for his friends' want? Obviously to be left alone and for his friends' to come.
I have no problems in giving away cash for donation. But please, do not sell me a pen again. I will always misplace them. And do not be so pushy, talk too much and leave me with no clue on whoever's receiving my help, not that I care but since you take the time off to explain, I might as well have an idea.
Oh well.. I still prefer the tin and sticker method.
